George Melnik reviewed the minutes from the September 2013 Monthly meeting, The tournament schedule 2014 was reviewed along with a brief description of the updated website. The new policy for tournament fee was explained. Tournaments are $15.00, which includes entry fees, skins game and lunch. If you signup and PAY on the Sunday before the event the fee is $10.00.
Bill Glitch review the handicap system used by the golf club and said we would be receiving plastic cards for our handicaps once again. He explained use of the handicap books and the on-line system.
Tournament Directors Reports:
19th Hole Allan Kage Memorial Snowbird- March 30th Jay Grob & Mark Maguire said the has 54 players already signed up. This will be an individual tournament where the committee will set up the teams.
Ye Olde Alpha, Speidel Medal & Handicap April 27th Tom & Greg Gaudino. 8:00AM shotgun Please let the tournament directors know if you will be walking or riding for this event.
Dubie Dailer Memorial Generations: May 4th Jim Dailer & Bill Glitch. This is a two man scramble with 8:30am shotgun. Jim wanted to thank the club attorneys for assisting with the event. We will be paying 10 places in each division.
Kalkrueth Roofing & Sheet Metal: June 14th & 15th Dan Tennant. Applications are available at this time or are available on line @ www.oglebaygc.com. Dan said that there will be gift bags this year for the participants and he urged anyone wishing to play to get the application in as soon as possible.
Stoney Hollow Tire July 12th & 13th Tom Gaudino, The tournament applications were mailed out this week and most players have received them. Tom asked that you fill them out but he did not need the money till June.
Rico Coville reviewed the upcoming year at the golf courses and stressed how important it is for the club and the park to work together for the betterment of golf at Oglebay.
By- Laws: Dave Sims discussed revision of the by-laws in order to cleanup some of the wording. Those revisions are posted on the website oglebaygc.com to give the members and chance to review the changes before voting on passage.
A question on Officers compensation was posed by Phil Pata, It was explained that in the past officers were compensated for their work however the board decided at this policy was in conflict with the current by-laws therefore no officers would be receiving compensation unless it was voted on by the membership.
Harry Himrod was nominated by the board to become a life member, the motion was made by Scott Blass and seconded by Jim Tysk. Motion was passed.
Bernie Marcellus explained the deal that the Park System gave us to provide us a 7 day Crispin Pass for $400.00. The winner will then have their choice of either the pass or the $400.
Dan Willming won the 50-50 $200.00
